It’s always nerve-wracking opening that email coming from a major organisation to announce the winners or the losers of a photo competition.
Yesterday 23rd of December was no exception. The first message informed me politely that my entry, despite having been picked for the first round of Jury Selection, didn’t win any prizes.
I was quite upset but, as I am aware of the scope of the competition, was prepared to accept the disappointment.
Hence, when I opened the rest of the emails, suddenly my Christmas became a feast as the rest of my photos have been awarded 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, 2 bronze medals and 2 Honourable Mentions.

I just sat in awe in front of my computer, then obviously in the next 5 minutes my family had to put up with me jumping around, laughing, shouting and crying of joy all at the same time.

This time almost all the photos I have entered were taken in the beautiful village that I have been calling home for the last 22 years www.lesgets.com   And another photo was taken in the nearby village of www.avoriaz.com

I really have to thank my brother Andrea who last year encouraged me to take part in photo competitions and art prizes. He drove me to push my boundaries and have faith in my talent.

I am ending this post with a quote by Francis Bacon: “We rise to great heights by a winding staircase of small steps”. I may have made it up one little step, but that is thanks to everyone who has encouraged me over the years to believe in my art.

So thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
